Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng, the Deputy Minister for Finance, is currently a Member of Parliament in Ghana, and has been so since January 2013. He is a trained economic policy manager and has senior level experience in the management of Ghana’s public sector for more than a decade.
He became the Government Spokesperson on Finance & Economy in 2006 and played key advocacy and coordinating role in policy discussions with implementing agencies and foreign development partners in all sectors of Ghana’s economy.
In November 2010, he became the policy advisor to the New Patriotic Party, then the largest political party outside government. In January 2013 he was admitted into the Finance Committee of Ghana’s Parliament, a committee that vetted and approved all government budgets and key economic policy decisions.
He served in the Finance Committee until January 2017 when was admitted into the Poverty Reduction Committee of the same Parliament, a committee he still serves.
Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng has an MA in Economic Policy Management from the University of Ghana, Accra. He further holds an MSc in Water Supply & Environmental Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology and also a BSc in Civil Engineering from the same university.
He is a Christian and is married with three children.
